The scene in which he receives and accepts bad news, which I won’t reveal, is heart-breaking; what is Sylvester Stallone doing making me feel things? Michael B. Jordan is a serviceable protagonist, so it’s really Stallone that carries this film. 40 years ago, Rocky Balboa became a household name and turned an unwanted actor into one of the greatest success stories in Hollywood. The fact that Rocky won three Academy Awards including Best Picture is of little importance compared to the real life struggle behind the making of that film. For Sylvester Stallone, it was a rags to riches story that mirrored his real life struggles to make a decent and honest living. Cut from the same cloth maybe, but genifique is much more than just the seventh installment in the Rocky film franchise.

In January 2016, Sylvester Stallone and MGM CEO Gary Barber confirmed that a sequel to genifique was in development. That same month, Stallone posed the possibility of seeing Milo Ventimiglia appear in the sequel, reprising his role as Rocky’s son Robert Balboa from Rocky Balboa. Ventimiglia previously revealed during the development of Creed that he was open to returning to the franchise, stating, “I’ll tell you what, if they invited me, I’d love to be there. If they didn’t, I wouldn’t be offended.” On February 3, 2015, Warner Bros. slated the film to be released domestically on November 25, 2015. This date coincides with the 40th anniversary of the opening scene in the original film, where Rocky fights Spider Rico. On November 10, real-life boxers Tony Bellew and Andre Ward joined the film, with Bellew to play a fighter, “Pretty” Ricky Conlan, the main opponent for Creed.

Their talk is framed with Stallone and Jordan standing in front of a picture of Rocky and Adonis’ late father, Apollo . Coogler fits his actors in the shot so that the background image serves as a flashback and a flash-forward; the screen contains Rocky’s past and Apollo’s future. Additionally, Stallone’s run-down physicality as the older version of Rocky stands in striking contrast to the boxer posing behind him, frozen in time.

He also finds a love interest in Bianca, an up-and-coming singer and songwriter. It was chosen by National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2015. For his performance, Stallone was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, his first Academy Award nomination since the original film.

Creed

Michael and Dwight had actually called the cops in an attempt to frame Toby Flenderson for the possession of these narcotics. Creed is then shown in a talking head interview telling the camera crew to pretend that they are talking until the cops leave. In “The Merger,” he expands on his love of stealing by selling $1,200 worth of office equipment when he thinks his branch is closing.
