Weber Q1200 Review: Portable Beauty or a Overweight Beast?

It’s supposed to slide in underneath the grill body, but the pan that came with my grill was the tiniest bit too big and wouldn’t slide into the grooves. I tried everything I could think of—rotating it, bending it, putting it in from the other side—and it simply wouldn’t fit. Click here for more about what makes these grates so special. It’s considered a staple in the Weber world and is a great portable propane grill to own. The Q 1000 features a rust resistant cast aluminum lid and body, making the grill lightweight, but still durable. The ignition is an electronic weber genesis 2 push-to-start, so firing up the grill for a cookout is quick and easy. And for speedy clean up, it has a removable drip pan. You can cook about six burgers at a time on the Q 1000’s 189 square inch grilling surface.

JustPortableGrills.com has become a leading resource for many shoppers looking for a portable grill to suit their needs. Do you want a small grill that’s easy to move on foot? Do you have limited space on your patio or balcony? Do you want something that will store easily in your garden shed, but still grills wonderfully?

Weber has excellent customer service, and I’d bet that if you called them, they’d send out a replacement regulator right away. There is a good chance that it’ll be perfectly fine, but if it does crap out, it’ll be within the first few uses. Call Weber’s customer service number found in the manual, and they’ll likely send out a new one. Now, cleaning is never fun or easy, but I feel like weber genesis 21200 is super easy to clean. While wind can be a factor, it’s pretty easy to work around.

Remove grill grates, them, and using warm, soapy water, wipe out the grill body and lid, inside and out. The grease tray in the bottom of the grill collects the grease and debris that runs out. Weber sells disposable aluminum trays that fit in this little compartment, but it’s not necessary to use them. In my opinion, it’s not much more work to clean out the tray along with the rest of the grill. If you are interested in using them, they are relatively inexpensive.

The meat was cooked to perfection in around 10 minutes, and I was really impressed at the heat put out by the grill’s 12,000 BTU burner. Rather than do a review on a grill that isn’t portable, I’ll give a general run-down of the Weber Q3200 features here. The significant difference between the Q3200’s compared to the Q1000 and Q2000 series is that they are not really portable. These two grills come with a stationary stand that the grill unit bolts onto. The Q1200 is also the colorful model of the bunch. Though it’s available with the same Titianium colored lid that all other gas models have, it is also available in several other colors as well. Red, blue, orange, and green colored lids are all unique to the Q1200, but it also has a black model, similar to the electric versions.

I have to say that I didn’t expect the Q 2200 to function and perform as well as it did. From putting it together to actually using the grill, it has been a wonderful experience all around. And, while I will be using my whole grills for heavy duty grilling and smoking, this has earned its spot in my collection. In general, though, this gas grill is pretty easy to use.
