Weber Genesis Ii E335 Liquid Propane Gas Grill Grills & Smokers Patio, Garden & Garage

For me, the flavorized bars made a huge difference, as I love foods with a hint of smoky flavor. If you don’t know what this is, it essentially infuses your food with a smoky flavor that is often lost with liquid propane. The three burners can be altered to different temperatures.

In my opinion, the grates do not get hot enough for grill marks to happen. I have previously owned three fantastic Weber barbecues, one Weber Q and two of the previous Genesis with sear station. My last unit was damaged in a storm and needed replacement. It had no sear station, but the three burners were more powerful and that this unit would grill as well as the sear station model.

But after more rigorous testing, the grill proved to have some serious weaknesses. This thing is built like a tank, but it’s surprisingly underpowered. The updated PUREBLUE (originally called GS4) grilling system is one of the main features of the Genesis and Spirit II lines but not the Spirit line we are discussing today.

Only by hopscotching the food around the grill grate could I come up with something close to an even sear. This grill’s burners go to 11, but that’s still not high enough. weber genesis 2 The grill is also “iGrill 3 Ready,” which is to say, you can buy an iGrill 3—a type of remote thermometer—and stick it in the spot where the LED gas gauge goes.

Being my first Weber it’s a little hard to get used preheating and lid down cooking, however results are great. Only downside is it’s a bit hard to keep clean due to the draining system and steaks are a bit harder to cook than on a normal bbq. If you think gas grilling no longer has anything to offer, and you’re considering giving it up, you may want to think again.

Indirect cooking relies on getting the temperature to hold at specific points, whether it’s just to cook a chicken breast through or the hours-long process of cooking pork butt. You’re not searing—just using the grill like an oven to cook the food the way you want it. The three burners put out 32,000 BTUs per hour over the 529 total square inches of cooking space. The main cooking are is 424 square inches and the warming rack adds another 105. I learned that while its burners are mighty, they also offer a wide temperature range which can be unforgiving if you’re not careful. For example, when I turned the Genesis II’s burner dials all the way up, after 10 minutes the temperature under the hood easily cracked 600 degrees (633.7 in fact).

As you move into a more premium price point, the Weber Genesis SPX-435 is the top premium option. The Spirit line of grills does not have representative products in the same size category. This model is a larger grill with four stainless steel burners that can deliver a total of 994 square inches of cooking area, divided into various segments.

The Genesis II took 10 minutes and 10 seconds for its burgers to finish, just 5 seconds faster than the Char-Broil SmartChef Tru-Infrared. It is the flagship product among the Weber catalogue for a reason. In the end, this grill is everything one could ever hope for in a grill. It has prepared everything you didn’t even know you needed. From the moment you buy this grill, you will be satisfied with what it can do from its beautiful, stylish stainless-steel design to its powerful food searing abilities. This grill really can do it all, and if you can afford it, I would not waste my time looking at other grills.
